The Pre-Lim starts today, 29th September 2007 @ Berjaya Times Square. All finalists need to register themself at the 10th Floor of BTS, where the Food Mall is. We have a section cordon off for our briefing session. Finalist from all the different 10 campuses arrive at 8:00am and divided into different group, based on drawing a lot upon registration.
At 9:00am sharp, the briefing begins. Our facilitator from Atcen, Mr. Yandaro give the brief to all the 44 finalists that turn up. All the finalists was dress very nicely for this 1st round.

The 1st task of the day is Sales driven and the finalists need to go around BTS, recruiting people to sign-up for JobsDB.com member. The task start sharp at 10:00am, where we saw the finalist running around the mall asking for people to sign-up for JobsDB.com. Most of the finalist waits near the main entrance and approach the people as soon as they step into the mall. There are those that went to the Monorail station to target the crowd.

To add on to the challenges, each team is only given 1 form and they are suppose to look for ways to get more forms. Of course, seed money are given to help them in carrying out their task. However, there are some finalists who manage to get their forms photocopied for free. Most of the team went to 7-11 to print additional forms and some even went to to Starbucks and nearby camera shops for that.

At 12:30pm, the 1st task end. The team gathers back on 10th floor to hand in all their forms. I can see some teams manage to sign-up more than 100 people within that few hours. After submission, all the finalists are given their lunch break while the facilitator tabulate the scores. Facilitator even calls the database collected to verified their genuinity. I was talking to one of the finalist and she was sharing with me how she alone manage to get more than 50 sign-up. WOW!!! This really prove that more does not mean better.
All the 44 finalists look really tired and you can really tell how much they enjoy this break. Thanks to 7-UP Revive, the finalists got to revive themself with this newly introduce isotonic drink. Cheers!

After the 1 hour break, all finalists gather back at the room. Now, comes the exciting moment… elimination. As the 1st task is purely recruitment sales driven, the top 5 teams with the highest sign-up will proceed to the Semi-Final round. Before the result was announced, the finalist were asked to share their view and experience carrying out the task.

The result was announced and we finally saw some happy faces among the finalist.

The losing team was given their token of appreciation and they depart from the room.
After the losing team left, the briefing for the 2nd task starts, where the finalists need to work on a promotional event to promote the No. 1 Youth Weekly publication in Malaysia, Malaysian Today. Team will now need to come up with a proposal to carry out their event before the end of the day and get the approval from the Head of Marcom, Ms. Farah Shamin.
All the teams crack their head to come up with the most interesting and creative ideas to carry out their task for tomorrow.

Well, at 5pm sharp all proposal was reviewed and discussed and all of the ideas was accepted. Now, the remaining finalist will need to work on the preparation for their task tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead tomorrow.
