The FINAL!!!

8 10 2007

Today’s the final. It was so exciting to finally arrive at this stage. Early at 7am, we can see all the finalist busy preparing for their booth and setup. From a glimpse of what they are preparing, I’m already very impress with what will be in-store later.

The day started with the briefing by our facilitator from ATCEN, Mr. Yandaro.

Today’s task will test the finalist on their Entrepreneurship skill. All profits from this exercise would also be donated to MERCY. Each finalist was given 1 week to prepare for this and here are what we have:

In the 1st store, we have a finalist selling accessories. There’s a large variety of accessories here. There are handphone pouches, necklaces, banglets, wallets and many more. She even prepared a You’re Hired paper bag to put in the accessories.

The 2nd booth, our finalist was selling discount voucher pack. He managed to work out a joint partnership with Befrienders to provide him with these gift pack. These gift packs have vouchers from Chezz Technique, Clara, Caffe 1920, Station Kopitiam, Shabu Shabu, Mr. Teppanyaki, Popular, U Bowl, Reborn and Smiley Floral & Gifts. For just a mere RM10.00, you can get all these vouchers. What a good deal.

We have the 3rd booth running some games for the shoppers to win some interesting prizes. Remind me a lot of those fun-fair booth.

The 4th booth is selling Aromatherapeutic products and services. She even offered massage services at RM1 per minute. According to 1 of the shoppers, her skill is really good and I got to know that she learns from her mom and her mom learns from Thailand. Her booth is also the 1st to sell off everything.

The 5th booth is the most interesting booth. They work out a collaboration with a company to bring in the latest fashion technology from Japan. They have a kiosk there that can create your own Nail Printing design. You just have to select the design you want and put your finger in the machine and it’s done. You have a beautifully printed nails. The other machine that they have can help you print your dedication or message on a stone.

The 6th booth really put in a lot of effort. She basically hand-made all the cards that she’s selling there and there are like hundreds and hundreds of it. She also sells shapes paper puncher and it’s cheap. She’s selling 2 for RM15 and outside is selling RM10 for one.

The 7th booth sells fashion apparel. She brought with her a wide range of appareal. From dress to shirt, this booth have everything. They even sells couple t-shirt which is rather interesting. I like the messages in the tee. She actually worked on a consignment basis with a company to provide her with all this. I’m impress that a music student actually have such business minded thinking.

The 8th booth sells painting. They don’t only sell existing painting, but you can also get a caricature of yourself drawn on the spot.

The 9th booth sells crystal. They talk about the benefit of crystal and the price is not expensive. The finalist says he manage to get the crystals from his friend from China.

The last booth, well as you can see – FOOTBALL. He uses football to attract the youth and run a game show with them. All you have to do is to answer the question to see how good you are at your football knowledge and you get to win some cool prizes.

All the 10 finalist were impressive. They showed so much of efforts and creativities in coming out with these. At 10am, the task begins. All finalist had 7 and a half hour as the task ended at 5:30pm.

I can’t resist and stop by to shop too :P

At 5:30pm, all 10 finalist gathered back to submit their profit & loss. Everyone was busy calculating their profit before submission.

Thank you to his friends!

The finalist were being asked to speak about their feeling.

And the result is out…

some are delighted,

… and some have to go.

The 7 winner congratulated each other, but we still have to find the best out of them, the “Corporate Hot Shot”.

And we have our winner.

A moment of joy. All the 7 winners will get themselves a job and also cool gadgets. Our corporate hot shot also take home with her RM 5,000. Congratulations!!!

With this, we ended the campaign with a group photo with all the 10 finalists and our sponsors. We have Malaysian Today presenting this cool campaign. Our main sponsor, JobsDB. Official Drink – 7-UP Revive, Facilitator – ATCEN, and other corporate partners – Borders, Universal Music and California Fitness. Last but not least, myPartners who conceptualised this campaign.

Semi-Final

30 09 2007

Early in the morning, the finalists were all here. The earliest finalists arrived at the mall at 7:00am. The briefing starts at 8:00am and as soon as it ends, we can see the finalists busy preparing their materials for the 2nd task.

About noon time, all the teams are gear up to go out to promote Malaysian Today to the world :D

The teams go around the mall talking to people about Malaysian Today. We have a team of cheer-leaders wanna-be who was making a lot of noises in the mall pulling a lot of attention. There’s also teams who gave out bookmark as forms of awareness. Contest was also being held by another team to spot-the-orange-men (using Malaysian Today corporate color as theme… sounds like DiGi Yellow Man to me :P ). We have our Creative teams at the Cinema areas asking people about Malaysian Today and having a dice game for Q&A to get the audience to understand the content of Malaysian Today. Synergy team goes around the mall asking for people to read the newspaper and leave their signature on their board.

At 4:00pm, the task ends and all teams return to the 10th Floor awaiting their fate. After an hour of discussion and score tabulation by the panel judges and facilitator, the result is out. Only 10 individual will make it to the final. The top 2 winning teams proceed on and the 3rd team will need to nominate who they feel deserve to go to the final.

The top 2 winning team were team Synergy and Enthusiasm. I like the way team Synergy educate and introduce Malaysian Today and how they get people to leave behind their comment and sign on their board. A friend of mine was actually stopped by them and was really impress with how they introduce the publication. They make it sound so interesting that my friend feel like going out to grab a copy right away. Team Enthusiasm is really enthusiast in carrying out their task. They really manage to carry out their task as a team and I like their t-shirt a lot. The quality look so good. Moreover, the team member in this team come from all different studies, we have Business, Music and Electrical students in this team.

The 3rd team that needs to nominate 2 of their members to the final is team Creative. 2 out of 3 vote for the yellow shirt guy to proceed to the final. Which left 1 seat and the facilitator has chosen their team leader, Harris to proceed on after evaluating each team members strength and weakness. Heads up guys. You are in the Final!

Well, congratulation to all this 10 finalist. Make sure to drop by Berjaya Times Square this Sunday, October 7th, 3rd Floor to catch the final moment of how the 10 finalist fight their way to the top. Good luck to all of them.

Farah, the sweet lady of Malaysian Today.

30 09 2007

After so many round of meeting up, finally I got to take a photo with Ms. Farah Shamin, the Head of Marcom from Malaysian Today. She has been going around to the campuses conducting interview with the contestants. From her interview, it is really quite cool to be able to do what she’s doing now at Malaysian Today. And now, today she will need to look at what the finalist will do to promote Malaysian Today.

Good luck finalist, but not to worry. Farah is a sweet lady :)
